Craig Rasmussen has circulated this picture of Grandpa Lorentz Pearson at a very young age: Craig clarifies below it was at age 24 in Sweden (1870). Now the following is not necessary:
Someone studying clothing styles might be able to tell us if it was still before 1870 in Sweden (maybe on the photo paper?)
or soon after arriving to US (Alta). Photo #1 on 2nd group, which is unknown 11 is also him, but with a beard,
and it is one that I don't think that many of us have seen before. He is wearing about the same clothing.
Again, were they from Sweden or US? Photo paper might tell us.
His suit in both has tailor-made buttons. He is wearing a watch/bob/chain in the #11 version.
As I was writing this, Craig sent an e-mail and with his permission I am copying the following:
Picture # 8 (set 3 [Unknown #30]) is our grandpa/great grandpa/great great grandpa/etc, LORENTZ PEARSON. Again, I was not aware of anyone else having this picture, other than the copies I provided to Wanda, Lonnie, and Dan Pearson, and my brother Lane. Esther Pearson Leak's comments on the back of this photo states: "Lorenz Pearson born March 1846. He was 24 years old when picture was taken in Sweden . He came here in 1870."
The copy that Craig has is a higher resolution than this scan seems to be. I tried to print 8 X 10 without any success.
Craig did make a negative, but is not sure that his quality is excellent.
